Katya Afonina (b. 1996, Minsk, Belarus) is a contemporary artist working with painting, drawing, sculpture, objects, and installations. Her practice explores themes of status symbols, the psychology of material culture, and the concept of home, often questioning societal values shaped by post-Soviet and capitalist influences.
Katya’s artistic background is diverse, combining academic training with independent research. She holds a postgraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Russian Academy of Arts and has also studied public administration and foreign languages. This interdisciplinary foundation informs her artistic investigations, allowing her to engage critically with cultural narratives and material histories.
She actively participates in international exhibitions, fairs, and artist residencies, developing projects that merge fine art with broader social and historical contexts. Her experience includes collaborations with businesses and cultural institutions.
